Production of tomato concentrates

Costacurta manufactures perforated and punched plates used in screw presses used for the pulping of tomatoes.

The production of tomato concentrate involves the extraction of the dry substance of a tomato from its organic liquids. The tomato is crushed, heated and then undergoes pulping processes. In this phase the skins and seeds are separated from the pulpy juice.

PERFORATED PLATES FOR SCREW PRESSES FOR THE PULPING OF TOMATOES

Costacurta’s perforated plates are installed inside a sfrew press. It’s a slow-moving machine in which a conical screw rotates inside a perforated cylindrical filter. During the pressing phase, the crushed tomato is pressed with increasing force against the metal filter. The holes in the filter allow the pulpy juice to drain out. The juice is collected and then undergoes evaporation (to further concentrate it) and pasteurisation processes.

In the production of tomato concentrates, Costacurta’s punched plates are the filter of the screw press.

Distinctive elements of Costacurta’s perforated plates for screw presses are:

  • High quality and precision of the punching to guarantee correct filtering
  • High quality of the material used
